Coach McMahon

Coach McMahon

With over 37 years of fencing experience, Kevin McMahon brings fencing, teaching, and competition experience to his students at the Fencing Center of Buffalo. He is a graduate of the United States Fencing Association Coaches College, a USFA-certified coach in all fencing weapons, and a member of the USFA and USFCA.

Beginnings

Kevin first learned to fence at the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1980 and began classical fencing lessons with Fencing Master Stephen Hilbert shortly thereafter. Serving as an assistant instructor for Master Hilbert at the local club they co-founded in the early 1980s, he has continued to fence, compete, and teach foil, epee and sabre. Kevin has studied with Buffalo fencing masters Stephen Hilbert & Don Cleversley, as well as Master Alex Beguinet at the USFA Coaches College at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.

Kevin founded the Fencing Center of Buffalo in April 2003 after the passing of his fencing master, friend and mentor, Stephen Hilbert.
